Since  i am on a navratri food trail since day 1 of Navratri starting last saturday , today visited  this place to have a completely different experience at Modern Day Navratri Bloggers Lunch. On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, Michelin recommended Chef Gautam Chaudhry has specially curated a progressive Navratri Menu at 38 Barracks. The  hand-crafted Navratri menu was a 4 course meal and was quite elaborate and came for an amazing price of just Rs. 799/- per person.

Special Navratra Menu

The moment we  entered the restaurant , we were guided to a corner reserved for Bloggers and foodies , we got a super chilled welcome with a  Virgin Pina Colada as the welcome drink as we settled down on our seat, much needed drink to kill the heat in the afternoon.

Welcome drink :

Virgin Pina Colada ,Perfectly sweet and just the adequate amount of pineapple to perfectly balance the taste. just loved the presentation.

Starters

And then the started started pouring in, first thing that graced the table was the Sabudana aur prunes ki tikki and this was surely a good twist for my love for prunes.I gave the Kurkure Kamal kakadi a miss of the menu presented. The 3rd item on offer in the starters was Sweet potato chips and as the name suggests thery were truly crisp to the core served with a delicious dip.

Main Course

If you love cottage cheese then the main course had a lot to offer , the Cottage cheese parcles on a bed of Sago risotto – as the name states these cottage cheese parcel were perfectly wrapped with a spicy filling adding to the taste of the entire piece and the Sago Risotto was a great combination making it absolutely palatable.

For the first time i heard of this dal Chirongee ki dal but during fasting this was a great pick, served with the singade aur aalo ke tikde.

the chef was kind enough to send this Harrisa upma with cottage cheese steaks which was not a part of the menu offered to us, and it was great on presentation and taste.

Fresh fruit salad

Ideally it is advised not to have fruits alongside your main course, but probably this was Navratri menu therefore chef has placed this assortment of freshly chopped fruits right in main course. probably this helped us neutralize our taste buds for the upcoming desserts.

Desserts

Everything good should end with something sweet and this Makhana kheer with mango and almond crisps was made in a consistent manner with lot of makhanas in it adding up to a great taste and crunch.

Overall had a great dining experience at 38 Barrack – a place that is truly designed for its name and our host Mr. Ankur agarwal took a special note to attend each one of us personally and kept briefing us about the ingredients,  preparation method and the thought behind coming up with a 4 course menu for Navratra unlike the trend of starters and thalli concept in most of the outlets. And all these preparations were freshly made for creating these hand crafted delicacies. Surely its a great step to create a complete menu for Navratra that can be served in course meal, but whats even more interesting is the fact that the items on the menu can be ordered individually as well basis your choice of food and appetite at the time you place the order.

Foodies on our Table with Ankur agarwal

Definitely the price of individual item is much on a higher side, but probably the idea behind is to serve it as a complete meal and thus Rs. 799/- for this entire range is a bit too low or may be the food is too much, So i feel the idea at 38 Barracks is to make people eat the complete  Navratri meal and mind it all the items are served in full portions. So its definitely requires fasting.
