Laat Saab – Food from across India

I think the name in itself is a statement on what an experience you are up-to at this nawabi setting.

A very well designed open air sitting overlooking the Mall entry with a fountain right in front , have a look how it looks in the evening, colorful and calm with sound of water from the fountain in front.

The Auto rickshaw sitting outside is really cool,  adding to a lot of Indian flavor in the decor with the colors.

As you enter the restaurant the nukkad wali madhusala greets you. Though what I had here were amazing Indian mocktails.

The entire restaurant is done in a way that it gives you a little bit of India in everything inside.

The train from 20th century across one side of stores gives you quite a platform feel. And you can literally count the people sitting inside.

Each and every table has got a lot India in it,  showcasing the work of our articians probably a good way to connect back to roots.

All chairs have something unique about them

The wheels of the famous Konark Temple.

Even the AV AhU are converted into art pieces,  this one shows Taj Mahal in background with an Indian dance perform in performance.

Another AC unit depicting dance form from north east.

Even the walls are to display things from all over India

Well well let’s get to food at that’s what we are here for Right!.

In a place named   “Laat Saab ” you can expect royal twist with the regular stuff.

 Starting with mocktails

Sherbet Safed Gulab

A clear lemonade with the flavor of rose. Tastes completely homemade. The twist of rose water made it taste really nice.but probably your eyes might not like it as much,  what matters is the taste.

Khus And Chilli

Well if you like your drinks to be spicy and healthy then try this. A sweet, tangy with a spicy after taste this one is must have for people who love green chilies.

Watermelon Cooler

Regular watermelon Mocktail was really nice. And it came to my friends relief after the khus and chilli Mocktail.

Mojito

When you are confused what to have this one is always my favorite pick and it always turns up as expected,  barring a few places where they made it either very sweet or without a fizz.

Let’s get to some Food and start with Starters

Chowpatty Paneer Tikka

just like Mojhito this is my regular pick and I was happy to see the preparation. Made to perfection with just the right flavor and well marinated.

Dahi ke Kebab

If a place gets this right,  then that restaurant has my complete family. And here I could relish a dahi ke kebab with a twist. While placing the order , we got the description as they make it with 100% fresh hung curd and do not add anything to it. And the preparation is so fresh that you can feel the cold curd inside.coated with roasted papad added to the crunch and spice to the mild flavored kebab. It’s different so you can try.

Hazratganj Subz Galouti Kebab

While ordering starters very rarely order a full plate of kebab, so far had it while it’s in the platter due to the appearance of the veg kebabs similar to non vegetarian kebabs. But this one was really outstanding on taste.and deserved to be ordered in full portion.

Let’s get to the main course,  but frankly speaking we were scared to go for main course since we really liked the starters. So started picking up with our regular stuff

Paneer Lababdaaar

Good on taste,  the gravy was very nicely done.

Subz Punjrattani

This was a little different than the regular mix veg as the vegetables used but still visible and you could segregate what you don’t want to have.

Soyabean Roghanjosh

What’s in name,  well at Last Saab everything is in the name,  so this has a similar gravy preparation as of RoganJosh but in place of Non veg they had added the vegetarians meat – Soyabean.  On taste it was not very spicy as I expected it to be. So if you please mention that while placing the order that you want it spicy. And to my mind roganJosh has got its name due to the fat that melts from the meat and adds to the taste so not sure why they have named a veg dish like that. But soya being my favorite still made my evening.

Dal Makhani

Regular on taste and good on presentation.

Dal Tadka

This is my husband’s favorite and it tasted great with the Darjeeling Chutneywale Rice.

Darjeeling Chutneywale Rice

So most of the food here is typical from Indian kitchens therefore lot of food gives you a flavor of homemade food. This was also one of them,  but tasted great. Try it in place of briyani to try something beyond routine food.

Desserts

Shikora Phirni

Served chilled in the earthen pot this was the cherry on the cake after a great Dinner at Laat Saab, the Laat saab way.

Ohhh Ohhh yes!  They also have a lovely sitting for the romantic couple. And call them to reserve the swing seats for you and enjoy a great time together.
