Kids Food Festival at Pahmos

Ever since I started working in Gurgaon, I am constantly looking out for places where I can take my kids and have food too, so that I can have some good time with both of my favorite things – my kids and Food off course. And I reserve my weekend for pampering the lazy me so all this exploration happens during the weekdays.
On my way from office commuting from Gurgaon to Indirapuram, I have good 2+ hours to myself. So was just scrolling zomato where I came across this Food festival event update of Pahmos. And the creative looked exciting enough to plan a visit with the kiddos. As it is when we visited this place last time they did a lot of running around and playing with their tyre sitting which is really cool. So after Paprika & Readers cafe this place has become my another option to go for.

So here we are at Pahmos ‘ Kids Food Festival ‘ to have some good time and explore a menu that’s designed only for kids.

All my kids love here is so much colors and the cool sitting because they can get down easily on their own without having to ask mom to help them get down.

So moving on to food, the menu is quite elaborate with loads of options to pick from unlike other outlets serving only 2-3 options or just happy meals for kids.

Here there have created a lot of options. Have a look for yourself.IMAG5166

The kids menu has burgers, sandwiches, pizza’s, wraps, soft drinks , smoothies , shakes & off course desserts and there are multiple options in these to choose from. The entire food menu comes in veg & non veg options making it much easier to choose from as per your kids choice. The menu starts from Rs. 99/- goes up-to 199/- across veg & non veg options.

I picked up a Slider Box Burger. As this had a hash brown Patty in the kid burger served with French fries,  lettuce & coleslaw. Priced at Rs. 99/- it’s a good pick.

IMAG5197IMAG5202IMAG5200IMAG5198

So that’s all for kids, now let’s move on to what we had. Well this is my second visit to this place, so I am going to incorporate food that I had in this visit and what I had earlier.

Food from my first visit to Pahmos

Loved the ambience of this place. Sitting is designed keeping bigger family dine out or an outing point for bigger gangs. Red and golden color dominates the interior of this place.

So amoung the vibrant colored Ambience the welcome drink is also pretty colorful. Yes they do serve a welcome drink as you sat down to place your order.

# Thai Green Papaya Salad : I just loved Raw papaya in salads and the dressing of the salads also that enhances the taste,  and this one came with one of my favorite ingredients yes Peanuts. So for me it was the thing to have. Priced at Rs. 189/-

#Hummus Pita : Priced for Rs. 175/- homemade asparagus hummus is served with Pita breads.

# Mexican Taco : A taco with stuffing of  toast Mexican beans and veggies served with a dip. It’s tangy so be careful before ordering it you can’t handle tang. Priced Rs. 189/-

# Streamed Momos : I just loved the presentation of food here it definitely looked more appetizing. So here’s the Veg momos priced at Rs. 129/-.

# Briyani Sizzler :This is  Briyani served over a sizzler with a streak of saute Paneer and veggies. Sufficient for 2 for main course. Priced at Rs.249/-

# Pan seared fish satay sticks : Priced at Rs. 299/- ,minced  Fish Satay sticks are served with a  creamy butter lemon dip and veggies.

So overall liked the food ordered and even the pricing it’s value for money. Order is going to take time so keep patience or order at once to save on time.

From my Visit 2

# Watermelon Feta cheese salad : This is my all time favorite salad since I just love watermelons. This one is loaded with walnuts making it great on taste and health. that’s what salad should be right!

#Baked stuffed potato : Half cut potatoes stuffed and served in four peices with a dips is a good pick for Potato and cheese lovers. Priced for Rs. 199/-

# Indian papri chat taco:  yes you read it right,  our very own street food is done into a taco with papadi chaat filling. It’s tangy & crispy serving 4 of such mini taco.just a good snack to have as starters. price Rs. 189/-

# Pahmos Special Burger :

This is a burger with double Patty with home made sauces. Let me put a disclaimer here don’t order it if you can’t handle it. Rs. 249/-

# Brown base dimsums & Streamed dimsums :  brown base dimsums are normal dimsums only difference is after stream they are further heated in a pan to turn the base brown. Price Rs. 149/-

Well you must be wondering I visited this place twice and didn’t had a dessert,  so the reason is that we love the Pan shop at the ground floor therefore yet to explore the desserts at Pahmos.

Overall a good place to hang around and have fusion food. Great place for families, but do take care of time so if you in a hurry then go to a fast food joint. But if you want to spend time over good food then head to Pahmos without a thought.

Time to clock in at The Clock Tower

It’s very rare that you visit a property that is spread a across floors, well finding a restaurant that’s spread across floors is easy but finding one that is a huge stand alone restaurant , spread across 3.5 floors is really something outstanding. Not just the building it’s more exciting to see different themes being followed across the spaces created and this place has it all.wooden walls,  wooden flooring,  wooden furniture , it’s like as if you are sitting in the woods somewhere in Stockholm or Shimla or may be a hill station.

Even the exterior of the building is Such that’s gives you an exotic feel. it has so much like

#An Alumnus corner

# A performance area for bands

#A smoking zone

# a lawn with a tree right at the entry

# a huge sitting on ground, first and second floor

# Sitting space with a window view

#sitting space with direct Sun light

#A cozy corner for the lovie dovie

#Open Air sitting

#Under the sky Rooftop

#Sitting with lots of green around.

Don’t believe me ! have a look for yourself.

Let’s move to food.

Mocktails

When you are out for long in a hot day,  all you need is something chilled. We had Mandarin sour and Smooch.

Starters

#Dahi K Kabab : Any place that does Dahi Kebabs right,  always wins me over and this place served one of the best Dahi Kababs I had in Gurgaon.

# Jalapeno poppers : Not a jalapeno fan but just loved the crispy poppers and their presentation. Good to have

#Vegetable Spring rolls :  This is something that if is crispy,  it’s good to have. The filling becomes secondary if crispiness is there. and presentation always appeals to our eyes.

#Spinach Pizza : just loved it. yes just loved it to the core. Looks healthy already when you see a perfectly crisp thin base Pizza with a healthy spinach layer. And tasted great too.

If you seriously ask me sometimes its about having  your favorite food done in the right way is an ultimate thing. I was seriously full but since we have ordered main course so dragged myself to have some more.

Tried Green Thai curry with plain rice and noodles.

And Finally desserts we had chocolate cake slice with vanilla ice cream.

Overall this is a place to sit back,  relax absorb nature, bring your kids and let them run around and hear them giggle. Enjoy the mist fans on the terrace with ultimate Gurgaon view.

Also their interior have few very interesting stuff , have a look

So explore all this and more in your kind of corner at The Clock Tower and travel in your own time space.

Tapri – A cute stop over at Jaipur

Whenever I visit a new city all I do is explore more and more street food. But this hot afternoon was different and inspite I craved for some street food for lunch but the heat outside pushed me to go to a closed AC space. And while passing I saw this sign and decided let’s go there.

The place is called as Tapri and is in CScheme at Jaipur as a  dine in cafe on the rooftop.

The entire place is very very witty with a lot of quirky little things around. As if designed to make you smile.

IMAG4063

IMAG4062

As you step into this space all you can see is a lot of stuff on display that is being sold here miniatures of earthen tea sets,  kullads, bags , mugs,  jars, diaries etc etc

IMAG4076.jpg

Now few of the quirky signboards from the cafe, really liked the way they have put forward what they want us to do at Tapri.

A mathematical disclaimer at the billing point, the Glass that scream out loud that it’s a glass. Outside terrace space which people take it for Granted that it’s a smoking  place says it’s not and even warning why should you even need to smoke. & something for the selfiestan people. May be you clicking with your phone but they charge extra for it.

IMAG4077.jpg

IMAG4061.jpg

IMAG4096.jpg

The place was decently crowded and as we settled down and was figuring out the menu. I started looking at other tables and as always the grass looks greener on the other side. We enquired for few dishes which were being served on adjoining tables & finally ordered the following

IMAG4088.jpg

  • Bhelpuri
  • Dal pakwaan
  • Namkeen shots
  • Gehu singh
  • Masala chai

I am sure you must be like is it seriously ordered for lunch looks more like evening snacks menu.

IMAG4078.jpg

But since we had a heavy breakfast and I am on a diet so this was the best I could pick keeping the calories count mind. But was even surprising was that we could barely finish it.

Dal Pakwaan was something that I had for the first time. It’s a dish that is created with a khakhra base with yellow dal on it and loads of finely chopped tomato and green chutney on it.

Namkeen shots : these were the finest golgappa chat I ever had. The golgappa shells were very very fine & crispy.loaded with curd,  sweet & green chutney,  potato cubes….. Simply yummy.

IMAG4089.jpg

Gehu Singh: this was the best Gehu recipe ever. Soaked and boiled whole wheat made into a delicious chat garnished with cut veggies and sev. Simply outstanding and very very filling.

IMAG4086.jpg

Masala chai followed by a green tea just awesome

IMAG4104.jpg

As we checked out the terrace that overlooks the Central Park. The terrace is quite spacious with lots of plants to add to the colors on the terrace and loads of cool breeze to breathe.

As we checked out after the bill they got us a feedback form. Asking us to leave a little bit of us. I did that and carried a lot of Tapri with me that you went in the blog. Not just that after my first Tapri experience with the 2nd In chronological order of Tapri cafe visit,  I headed straight to the third and newly opened Tapri cafe at Marriott – Tapri Ashram,  The tea house.

Tawak – A Pan Asian cuisine in Noida

Noida H block is a hub of restaurants in sector 63. I had my office here for 3 years. But over a period of time the dine in options here  have evolved  and you can find quite a few places here that serve amazing food.

Tawak is a restaurant serving pan Asian cuisine and the name Tawak represents cinnamon in Sanskrit and the food here has got an influence of the entire Asian continent.  A beautiful set up spread across 2 floors just above the McDonalds of sector 63. This is a must to try place.

We got to know that they have launched some new exclusive menus with a lot of fusion food. So we were all set to explore the same and Trust me everything was outstanding

Let’s quickly have a look at the mocktails
# Aam Panna : with onset of Summers this is definitely a mango drink ( read Aam drink)  that finds a place in most of the menus.

# Jasmine Tea & Ginger Elixir : Concoction of jasmine tea & ginger with a hint of pomegranate juice. let me make it very clear its not a tea, the flavour of tea is very mild and taken up by the pomergranate juice that gives this drink its color

Don’t miss out on the device next to the drinks,  that is waiter on call of a button, making it an excuse me free zone. or may be we can call it silent restaurant.

# Coconut water with Betel leaves and watermelon : this is one of the best and healthiest mock-tail i ever had. coconut water with thinly sliced betel leaves and diced watermelon.

IMAG4259

Tandoori Litchi with smoked Pineapple : the entire preparation is done in the tandoor and is made with canned lithi served with garlic nan strips on a platter over a dip.

Tandoori Bharwaan Mushroom : This is one of the speciality here where the mushrooms are marinated , stuffed and coated with papad then put in tandoor , one of the chef  special dish and is worth a try. dont miss to check out the stuffing and layering give it a look of a passion fruit.

Chrispy Water Chestnut : This is a thai style dish that is done in chilli sauce and the water chestnut again canned ones are used and deep fried before doing them with Chilli sauce.

Tandoori Rolled Paneer : This is one of the most ultimate dish on presentation and on taste as well. the Paneer is rolled with a creamy filling and dry fruits, the paneer is layered in very thin slices and done in tandoor , simply outstanding.

Sipping Caliente – A Drink with Chilli’s

If you  don’t take alcohol like me and when you are at parties all you have is Mojhito Or juice based mocktails which are loaded with sugar and calories. And if you are looking for low calorie stuff all you have is diet cokes of the world. So while I have a mocktail in hand all I  crave for is some spicy food to combat the sweet drinks rather sugary stuff that I am sipping on.

I have tried a drink called Chilli Mojhito at Laat Sahab in Garden Galleria noida and it had green chillies in it,  so I quite liked it. Back then I never thought there would be a non alcoholic bottled drink that would have chilli’s in it.

A blogger and Author friend was working on a project of launching a drink in India and he mentioned to me that this drink has a very different taste & some uniqueness in ingredients. And I was like,  every other day there are so many drinks making there way to India what is going to be so special about this one. Well the response was wait and watch.

After having a successfull stint in Norway & Denmark the Drink with Chilli comes to India. And the Name is Caliente and this drink is launched by Uma Ekologisk and Trade LLP in India.  It’s a delight when blogger friends really ensure that we get to taste and review the product. So as he got hold of the first samples we got the opportunity to taste this much talked of beverage.

There were 2 flavours that we got to explore Chilli Lime & chilli Cranberry pomegranate in sparkling lime and red color with a lovely glass bottle with a tag that explained a lot about the entire range.

The Bottles came with a disclaimer that they taste best when served chilled Or ice. I was super happy to see the non alcoholic drink and it came with a promise to make you high. As a person who doesn’t drink is always wondering what’s like being high like. Though as person I am always high on life.

Caliente is a new kind of drink, in which alcohol has been replaced with chili heat. The ingredient which makes chilies hot – capsaicin – also triggers the release of endorphins, creating a natural high. Crafted in Sweden from organic ingredients, it’s the ultimate choice for people who are after a complex non-alcoholic drink that’s low on sugar. I am sure this comes with a good news for all the people who stay away from alcohol in front of their parents or family , they can now safely consume it at home. In case of dry days this can be a backup to them. And also for the states that  have ‘dry days’ this can be a savior.Seven Indian states has prohibited sales of alcohol, including Gujarat where a Caliente launch is planned for summer 2017.

Caliente is one of few organic non-alcoholic beverages sold at a premium price and to be consumed at adult drinking occasions. Most Indians relate ‘premium’ to alcoholic drinks, meaning that Caliente’s exclusivity and price need to be explained and exploited.

So when do you get to have this,  well answer is  pretty soon. I got my first bottle,  you ll have it too sooner than you imagine.

The first bottles will be found in premium retailers and high-end restaurants in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore this month. After another 2-3 months, a second phase includes Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Goa and Ahmedabad.

So go and grab yours when you spot it in a store near you or the bar of your choice.

Moti Mahal- A Food Journey from 1920’s

“Only few chefs in the history of gastronomy have been credited for inventing a cuisine or even a dish. Kinda Kal Gujral is one of them. He has put the Indian cuisine on the world’s culinary map.

The Indian Pakistan partition forced great chefs to move to India.  This led to the emergence of a new culinary chapter, one such man was Kundan Kal Gujral who started Moti Mahal is 1920 in Peshawar the Peshawari phenomenon set up his second eatery in Daryaganj in 1947 following the partition  and soon acquired world wide patronage and become an institution.”

This is exactly what the first page of Moti Mahal delux menu reads. We started from the Indian drink – Chaach and the Jaljeera

Followed by the vegetarian platter to compliment our drinks. The platter came with 3 peices of Dahi Kabab,Tandoori  Aaloo,  Paneer Tikka and Mushroom. All grilled served with chutney and salad.

Since this place serves very nice veg and non veg combos,  we ordered for a Vegetarian eco  combo that came with a combination of 3 started,  butter naan and a Dal Makhani totally loaded with Butter , so can definitely say perfectly Makhani.

IMAG4828

And along with this we also ordered for Paneer Makhani,  Malai Kofta and mutter mushroom in the main dishes complimented with Chilli Lacha parantha and khasta Parantha.

Overall the food was great. Service was a bit slow but then it’s okay since they had quite a few people to attend.

In dessert we went for our all time favorite the Gulab jamun. As that was the only option they had along with Vanilla ice cream. Though they had couple of dishes in the menu but these two were the ones which were available.

The Food Abode : Gastronomica Kitchen & Bar at GK

“Gastronomica” is a Spanish word that stands for Food and this place was  truly an abode of good food. Located in M block market it’s a fun place to hangout at.

Loved the ambience and the way entire sitting was done, quite a lot of efforts put in the details. And each corner has its own appeal be it inside sitting or the balcony sitting

A place that serves Chocolate shakes is always one of my favorite. And this one had 2 of my favorite things on menu one of course you guessed it right Death by chocolate , a chocolate shake and another Paan based drink – virgin paan and gulkand Mojito.

And here’s the other one which was really nice but probably the straw was wrong. As it was actually difficult to sip the gulkand through this straw. All paan lovers will simply love it. Quite liked the efforts in experimenting with Paan.

Started off on starters with raw banana kababs and the presentation was simply more than appetizing.

But I still have something for dahi based kabab and this Kadak Papad Kabab was stuffed with Spinach and coated with roasted papad fried to perfection and of course great on taste and presentation.

And how can a vegetarian not have Paneer in starters. So cream cheese Paneer tikka was just a perfect pick with a overdose of Paneer.

One more thing that I tried for the first time was Tandoori Jackfruit and quite liked it since I love Jackfruit.

Moving on to main course,  I think when one is in love with a particular cuisines you always end up having almost same stuff in vegetarian. So here is my pick Dal makahni and Paneer kaliya in the main course. And both the dishes were simply amazing. Had a really yummy Paneer dish in mains after a very  long time. And just loved it.

I literally waited for the desserts like anything as I have spotted this Dish ” Green Apple Beetroot Halwa” , and since we hardly find people who like beetroot,  I was seriously looking forward to this one,  and here it came with Red apples though but tasted yummy.

And was very very close to gajar ka halwa if I was blind folded and was asked to have this dish I would have guessed it gajar ka halwa. So this is definitely my strongest recommendation from their dessert menu.

So overall a great dining experience with nice Mocktail and starters options. And very nicely done sitting space. Do visit sometimes.
